The Hāna Highway winds along Maui's northeastern coastline for roughly 84 kilometers, crossing more than 50 one-lane bridges and passing dozens of waterfalls, black sand beaches, and dense rainforest. The drive is as much the destination as the town of Hāna itself, with pull-outs at sites such as Waiʻanapanapa State Park and the Ke'anae Peninsula offering distinct landscape photography opportunities. The road continues past Hāna to Oheʻo Gulch within Haleakalā National Park, where a series of tiered pools descend through a bamboo forest.
