The Florida Keys are a 125-mile arc of coral cay islands extending southwest from the tip of the Florida peninsula, connected by the Overseas Highway, which includes the famous Seven Mile Bridge. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park near Key Largo protects the only living coral reef in the continental United States, with snorkeling and diving access to staghorn coral formations and sea fan gardens. The backcountry waters of Florida Bay between the Keys and the Everglades constitute one of the world's great shallow-water flats fishing environments.
