Stowe is a village in north-central Vermont at the base of Mount Mansfield, the highest summit in the state at 4,393 feet. The historic village center, with its 1863 Community Church steeple framed by the Green Mountains, represents one of the most reproduced New England village compositions. In autumn, the combination of the village steeple, sugar maple canopies along Main Street, and the mountain backdrop creates layered foliage color that peaks in early to mid-October.
