At roughly six million acres, Adirondack Park is the largest park in the contiguous United States, encompassing a mix of public wilderness and private land in northern New York. The park contains 2,000 miles of hiking trails, 3,000 lakes and ponds, and 46 peaks over 4,000 feet known as the High Peaks. Lake Placid, the village at the heart of the High Peaks region, hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980, and Mirror Lake within the village reflects the surrounding mountains with exceptional clarity.
