The highest freestanding waterfall in Colorado, plunging 365 feet over a cliff at the head of the box canyon above Telluride. A historic powerhouse structure sits at the base of the falls, built in 1907 to power the mining operations below. The falls are visible at the end of Colorado Avenue from town, and an unmaintained road and trail lead up to the base. The surrounding peaks of the San Juan Mountains and the narrow canyon setting create a dramatic backdrop. Flow is strongest in late spring and early summer from snowmelt.

Where next?

The world is wide open.
