A state park in southwestern Idaho containing the tallest single-structured sand dunes in North America, with the main dune rising 470 feet above the surrounding desert. Unlike most dune fields, the Bruneau Dunes do not migrate because winds from opposing directions keep the sand in equilibrium around two small lakes at the dune base. The park observatory houses Idaho's largest public telescope for stargazing in a dark-sky setting. Sandboard rentals are available, and the lakes support fishing and migratory bird activity.
