A waterfall on the Snake River near Twin Falls, Idaho, where the river drops 212 feet over a basalt ledge wider than Niagara Falls at approximately 1,000 feet across. Often called the Niagara of the West, the falls are at their most powerful during spring runoff in April and May, when the full width of the rim is active. By late summer water diversion for irrigation substantially reduces flow. A city park on the south rim provides viewing platforms and picnic facilities above the canyon.
