A national park in northwestern Montana along the Continental Divide and the Canadian border, protecting rugged Rocky Mountain terrain with over 700 lakes, active glacier remnants, and significant populations of grizzly bear, mountain goat, and wolverine. Going-to-the-Sun Road, an engineering feat completed in 1932, crosses the park over Logan Pass at 6,646 feet, threading narrow ledges cut into cliff faces. Many Named Glaciers have retreated dramatically in recent decades. The Two Medicine, Many Glacier, and Highline Trail areas offer alpine scenery with relatively manageable crowds.
