The world's first national park, established in 1872, centered on one of the planet's largest active volcanic systems in northwestern Wyoming. The park holds more than 10,000 hydrothermal features including Old Faithful geyser, the Grand Prismatic Spring, and Mammoth Hot Springs travertine terraces. The Lamar Valley in the northeast is among the best locations in North America for observing wolves, bison herds, and grizzly bears in open terrain. The canyon of the Yellowstone River drops over two major waterfalls visible from multiple overlooks.

Where next?

The world is wide open.
