A cluster of sandstone buttes and mesas rising from the Colorado Plateau on the Arizona-Utah border within the Navajo Nation. The West Mitten, East Mitten, and Merrick Butte are the signature formations, photographed from the visitor center overlook at sunrise and sunset when long shadows stretch across the red valley floor. The 17-mile Valley Drive loops through the park, passable in standard vehicles though unpaved.
