Cannon Beach is a coastal town on the northern Oregon coast anchored by the 235-foot sea stack known as Haystack Rock, the third-tallest intertidal monolith in the world. The rock's base is accessible during low tide and is a Marine Garden where tidepools support ochre sea stars, purple sea urchins, and nesting tufted puffins. The beach itself extends for several miles of flat sand backed by forested headlands, making it one of the most photographed coastal scenes in the Pacific Northwest.
