Sonoma Coast State Park encompasses a 17-mile stretch of rugged Pacific coastline north of Bodega Bay, broken by rocky headlands, sea stacks, and occasional sandy coves. Goat Rock Beach at the mouth of the Russian River is a harbor seal pupping area that draws wildlife photographers from spring through summer. The bluff-top trails and informal pullouts along Highway 1 through the park provide almost continuous coastal viewpoints.
