Channel Islands National Park protects five islands off the coast of Southern California, accessible only by boat or small plane, earning them a reputation as California's Galapagos. The islands support endemic species found nowhere else, including the island fox and island scrub-jay, alongside dense seabird colonies and kelp forest ecosystems. Sea kayaking through the sea caves of Santa Cruz Island is among the most popular adventure activities in the park.
