Death Valley National Park encompasses 3.4 million acres of the Mojave and Great Basin deserts, containing Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America at 282 feet below sea level. The park's geological diversity includes salt flats, sand dunes, volcanic craters, and multicolored canyon walls at Artist's Palette. Superbloom wildflower events occur in wet winters, covering the valley floor in dense carpets of desert gold and phacelia.
