A small market town on the southern coast of Vanua Levu, Fiji's second-largest island, Savusavu is set around a sheltered natural harbour and is surrounded by coconut plantations, vanilla farms, and hot springs that vent directly at the town waterfront. The natural harbour functions as a popular anchorage for transoceanic yachts and the town retains a relaxed, unhurried character less influenced by resort tourism than the main island. Nearby the Natewa Bay and offshore reefs provide excellent diving.
