Fitzgerald River National Park on Western Australia's south coast is recognised as one of the world's most significant plant diversity reserves, containing over 1,800 plant species including 70 found nowhere else on Earth. The park's coastal heath on quartzite ridges is part of the South West Australian Floristic Region biodiversity hotspot. Point Ann within the park provides a land-based vantage point for whale watching between June and October, when southern right whales nurse calves in the sheltered bay.
