Jervis Bay is a deep, sheltered marine embayment on the New South Wales South Coast, 180 kilometres south of Sydney, flanked by Booderee National Park to the south and Jervis Bay Marine Park throughout its waters. Hyams Beach on the western shore holds a Guinness World Record for whitest sand, while the bay's clear, deep water supports bottlenose dolphin pods and is regularly visited by humpback whales during their annual migration. The Booderee peninsula, managed jointly by Parks Australia and the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community, protects coastal heath, banksia woodland, and historic lighthouses.
