The Yarra Valley lies 60 kilometres east of Melbourne, where the upper Yarra River flows through a landscape of rolling hills, open farmland, and remnant mountain ash forest. The valley is one of Australia's most visited wine regions, producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a cool, wet climate, with cellar doors concentrated along the ridge between Healesville and Yering. Healesville Sanctuary within the valley is a native wildlife reserve specialising in Australian fauna including platypus, koalas, and birds of prey.
