Wilsons Promontory is the southernmost point of mainland Australia, a granite peninsula extending into the Bass Strait that is entirely protected as national park. The promontory contains 80 kilometres of walking tracks connecting beaches, granite headlands, forest, and heath ecosystems, with the multi-day Prom Circuit among the most popular wilderness walks in Victoria. Wildlife including wombats, eastern grey kangaroos, and emus are commonly encountered at Tidal River, the main visitor area.
