Tubbataha Reef lies in the Sulu Sea 150 kilometres southeast of Puerto Princesa, a remote double atoll accessible only by liveaboard dive vessel during the brief March-to-June season when sea conditions allow passage. The reef system supports the highest coral biodiversity recorded in the Philippines and serves as a critical nesting ground for seabirds and marine turtles, with hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, and manta rays regularly encountered. The entire reef is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest and largest declared marine parks in the Philippines.
