Coron is a municipality in northern Palawan occupying Busuanga Island, best known for a concentration of Second World War Japanese shipwrecks lying in depths of 10 to 40 metres in Coron Bay and accessible to recreational divers. Kayangan Lake, enclosed by limestone cliffs on Coron Island, is considered one of the clearest lakes in Asia and is the centrepiece of island-hopping tours. Barracuda Lake is noted for thermoclines where distinct warm and cold layers create disorienting visibility conditions.
