Tioman Island rises sharply from the South China Sea off the coast of Pahang, its interior dominated by twin granite peaks — Bukit Nenek Semukut — that are visible from far out at sea. The island appeared in the 1958 film 'South Pacific' as the fictional island of Bali Ha'i, cementing its reputation as one of the most beautiful in Southeast Asia. Coral reefs in good condition surround much of the island, with dive sites accessible from the main villages of Tekek and Juara.
