A three-kilometre arc of white sand on the Bay of Bengal in Rakhine State, Ngapali Beach is Myanmar's most developed coastal resort destination, with a quiet, low-rise character that has historically attracted visitors seeking calm, crowd-free conditions. Fishing villages at each end of the beach operate traditional outrigger boats that head out before dawn and return with the morning catch, which is dried, prepared, and sold directly from the beach-side community. The sea is calm and clear enough for swimming from October through April, outside the cyclone season.
