Khao Yai is Thailand's oldest national park, inscribed as part of the Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex UNESCO World Heritage Site, covering nearly 2,170 square kilometres on the Khorat Plateau escarpment northeast of Bangkok. The park supports wild elephants, gaur, Asiatic black bears, tigers, and one of the largest populations of gibbons in Southeast Asia. Haew Narok and Haew Narin waterfalls are among its most visited natural features. The park also lies along an important migratory bird corridor and is a rewarding destination for wildlife observation throughout the year.
