Ko Chang is the largest island in Trat Province, located near the Cambodian border in the Gulf of Thailand. Much of the island's interior is protected within Ko Chang National Park, and the terrain rises steeply to peaks above 700 metres covered in dense tropical forest with several waterfalls. White Sand Beach on the northwest coast is the most developed, while Hat Sai Khao further south offers a quieter alternative. The island is accessible by ferry from the mainland town of Trat.
