Ko Pha-ngan lies north of Ko Samui in the Gulf of Thailand and is best known internationally for its monthly Full Moon Party on Hat Rin beach, which draws crowds of several thousand. Beyond the party scene, the island has a quieter character in its northern and western areas, where beaches such as Haad Khom and Haad Salad remain relatively undeveloped. The island's interior is mountainous with walking trails through rubber and coconut plantations. Thong Nai Pan bays in the northeast are considered among the most scenic on the island.
