A small coral and basalt island connected to the Taitung coastline by an eight-arch pedestrian bridge in the form of a stylised sea dragon, Sanxiantai ('Three Immortals Platform') is one of eastern Taiwan's most photographed coastal landmarks. The island itself features a loop trail through wind-eroded basalt formations, tidal pools rich in marine life, and open views south along the Pacific-facing cliffs of the east coast.
