Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia

Colombians have grown coffee in small mountain plots for over a century, and this landscape shows how: six farming zones and eighteen towns on the slopes of the western and central Andes, where beans ripen in high forest on terrain too steep for easy cultivation. The hilltop settlements carry the stamp of Antioquian colonization — cob-and-cane walls under clay-tiled roofs. UNESCO inscribed the Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia in 2011.
