The last capital of the Baekje Kingdom before its fall in 660 CE, Buyeo preserves a collection of royal tombs, excavated palace sites, and a national museum housing some of the most refined metalwork and Buddhist art produced on the Korean Peninsula. Busosan Fortress, a wooded ridge overlooking the Baengmagang River, is the site of the legendary Nakhwa Rock from which court ladies reportedly leapt during the kingdom's final siege.
