At Colombia's north-western corner, where South America narrows toward the Darién, Los Katíos National Park spreads over 72,000 hectares of low hills, forest and humid plains. The park acts as a biological bridge between two continents, dense with endemic plants and home to many threatened animal species. UNESCO inscribed it as natural World Heritage in 1994.
