The southernmost glacier-bearing massif in the Northern Hemisphere rises to 5,596 metres directly above the ancient Naxi town of Lijiang. A cable car ascends to approximately 4,500 metres, placing visitors level with the permanent snowfields and the White Water River valley below. The peak serves as the sacred mountain of the Naxi people and features prominently in local cosmology.
