Jigme Dorji National Park is the largest protected area in Bhutan, covering approximately 4,349 square kilometres in the northern districts of Paro, Thimphu, and Gasa, extending from subtropical foothills to glaciated terrain above 7,000 metres. The park harbours a full range of Himalayan fauna including snow leopard, Bengal tiger, red panda, takin (Bhutan's national animal), and blue sheep. Trekking routes through the park include the Snowman Trek, one of the world's most demanding long-distance high-altitude routes.
