Langtang Valley is a high Himalayan valley in the Langtang National Park, approximately 50 kilometres north of Kathmandu, offering a less-crowded trekking alternative to the Khumbu and Annapurna regions. The valley is flanked by Langtang Lirung (7,234 m) to the north and provides access to the Kyanjin Gompa monastery and the Kyanjin Ri viewpoint at 4,773 metres. The Tamang and Tibetan communities in the valley maintain traditional herding practices and produce yak-milk cheese at high-altitude settlements.
