A small coastal village on the Petite Côte south of Dakar, Toubab Dialaw is built on a low rocky headland above a beach used by Senegalese wrestling trainers and fishermen. The village has developed a modest arts community centred on the cultural centre Sobo Badé and is frequented by artists, musicians, and performers from Dakar seeking a quieter working environment. The beach south of the headland is wide and largely undeveloped, with surf conditions that attract a small local surfing community.
