A west coast town south of Flic en Flac, Tamarin is set in a broad bay formed by the Tamarin River estuary and is associated with surfing, with a point break that produces consistent left-handers from May to September. A resident pod of spinner dolphins inhabits the bay and is visible from the shore in the early morning. The surrounding salt pan wetlands attract wading birds and provide an open landscape unusual on the developed west coast.
