A dry deciduous forest north of Morondava managed as a research station and private reserve, Kirindy is among the best places in Madagascar to observe the fossa, the island's largest endemic carnivore. The forest also hosts giant jumping rats, eight lemur species, and a dense population of baobab trees of several species. Night walks reveal chameleons, mice lemurs, and nocturnal tenrecs using torchlight.
