Questions scratched on oracle bones at Yin Xu record one of the oldest writing systems on Earth — and anchor the late Shang Dynasty (1300–1046 BC) in history. Capital of that Bronze Age golden era, the site near Anyang has yielded royal tombs and palace foundations, among them the Tomb of Fu Hao, the only Shang royal burial ever found intact, filled with superbly crafted grave goods. UNESCO inscribed Yin Xu on the World Heritage List in 2006.
