Shiwa Ng'andu in northern Zambia is an Edwardian manor house built in the 1920s by British colonial officer Stewart Gore-Browne on the shores of a remote lake — the most unlikely piece of English country architecture in the heart of Africa. The estate's farm, lake, and surrounding bush have been maintained by the Gore-Browne family and provide a window into a vanished era of colonial Zambia. The manor can be visited on guided tours and is accessible via light aircraft from Lusaka.
