The Linyanti Swamps along the Linyanti River on Botswana's border with Namibia form a remote wetland system that concentrates elephants, hippos, and Nile crocodiles in enormous numbers during the dry season. The area is traversed by a handful of exclusive private concessions and is renowned for exceptional sightings of leopard and wild dog. The remoteness of the Linyanti is considered one of its principal attractions — most of the surrounding concessions see very few vehicles.
