Wilderness, Western Cape

The small town of Wilderness is flanked by the Touw River estuary and a long beach of golden sand backed by coastal dunes. Part of the Garden Route National Park, the Wilderness Lakes system connects five freshwater lakes through channels that meander through riverine forest. Canoe and paddleboard access to the lakes offers a quieter counterpoint to the surf beach immediately to the south.
