The Blyde River Canyon in Mpumalanga is one of the largest green canyons in the world, its red and orange quartzite cliffs dropping some 800 metres to the river below. The Bourke's Luck Potholes at the canyon entrance are cylindrical rock formations carved by swirling floodwaters. Viewpoints at the Three Rondavels reveal columns of dolerite capped with grassy tops that resemble the circular thatched huts they are named after.
