A dramatic mountain road carved into the western cliffs of the Cape Peninsula between Hout Bay and Noordhoek, Chapman's Peak Drive traverses 114 curves along a 9-kilometre route with sheer drops to the Atlantic below. The road offers some of the most photographed coastal scenery in South Africa, particularly at sunset when the Sentinel cliff glows orange above the bay. Seasonal whale sightings from the road are common between August and November.
