Mount Lushan in Jiangxi helped teach China how to see landscape. Buddhist and Taoist temples and Confucian landmarks where celebrated masters taught stand among peaks that inspired generations of poets and painters, shaping the way Chinese culture approaches natural beauty. UNESCO inscribed Lushan National Park on the World Heritage List in 1996 as a spiritual heartland of Chinese civilization.
