Ancient Building Complex in the Wudang Mountains

Taoism's sacred Wudang Mountains in Hubei gather palaces and temples that reached their fullest form as an organized complex under the Ming dynasty, though buildings here go back to the 7th century. Spread through scenic valleys and up forested slopes, the ensemble distils the finest of Chinese religious architecture across nearly 1,000 years, from the Yuan through the Qing. UNESCO inscribed the ancient building complex in 1994.
