A protected wetland reserve at the innermost point of Dubai Creek, Ras Al Khor harbours thousands of flamingos that wade in its shallow lagoons against an incongruous backdrop of glass towers and motorway interchanges. Three public hides equipped with telescopes allow close observation of the flamingo flocks, along with herons, cormorants, and migratory waders. The contrast of pink birds against urban skyline is one of the most striking photographic subjects in the Gulf.
