An artificial archipelago constructed in the shape of a stylised palm tree extending into the Arabian Gulf, Palm Jumeirah is most dramatically appreciated from the air or from elevated vantage points on the mainland. The monorail that traverses its spine offers surface-level views of the crescent and surrounding sea. Beaches lining the fronds face both inward toward the calm lagoon and outward toward open Gulf waters.
