A palm-filled valley in eastern Morocco where the Ziz River descends from the Atlas mountains through a series of gorges before spreading into a vast oasis near the town of Errachidia. The oasis is one of the most extensive in Morocco, with hundreds of thousands of date palms lining the river banks for dozens of kilometres. The road from the Tunnel du Légionnaire south into the valley provides elevated viewpoints over the palm canopy extending to the horizon. Mudbrick ksar villages embedded within the palm grove are characteristic of the architecture throughout the valley.
