Malbork Castle is the largest castle in the world by land area, a massive Gothic brick complex begun by the Teutonic Knights in 1274 and expanded over the following two centuries. The three-part structure — High Castle, Middle Castle, and Low Castle — rises from the east bank of the Nogat River, its reflections visible in the water from the far bank. The amber collections and medieval armoury within the castle's reconstructed interiors document the Teutonic state at the height of its Baltic power.
