The Gutach River descends 163 metres in a series of seven cascades through a steep gorge in the central Black Forest, constituting one of the highest waterfalls in Germany. A well-maintained trail with wooden footbridges winds through mossy spruce forest alongside the falls, allowing close-range views of each individual cascade. The surrounding village of Triberg is also known for its cuckoo-clock trade and traditional Black Forest cultural heritage.
