Polignano a Mare is an Adriatic coastal town south of Bari whose historic center overhangs sheer limestone cliffs above sea caves and clear green water. The main belvedere terrace at the cliff edge is one of the most dramatic viewpoints on the entire Adriatic, looking down into the grotto of Lama Monachile and along the rock face to adjacent coves. The cove at the base of the town, accessible by a steep path, is a small pebble beach framed by the overhanging white cliff.
